Greyhound Australia is the largest long distance bus operator in Australia, operating in all mainland states and territories. It is owned by the Chapman Group and ANZ.
Today's Greyhound Australia is the result of many buy-outs and mergers of various bus/coachline companies. Its earliest origin was in the form of Pioneer Tours, later to become Pioneer Coachlines, formed in 1905. [1]
The original Greyhound buslines were formed in 1928 as a passenger service in Toowoomba. They would merge with Pioneer in 1992 as Greyhound Pioneer. Other companies that are now a part of Greyhound Australia were McCaffertys (founded 1940), Travel Coach, Suncoast Pacific Coaches and Bus Australia brands. [1]
